ABSTRACT
Natural or man-made disasters may occur anytime around the world with massive consequences, creating an immediate need to alleviate human suffering. Many factors contribute to coordinating Humanitarian Supply Chains and Crisis Management from the point of origin to the point of destination in response to meet the urgent needs of the affected people under the emergency condition. This research provides a multi-perspective approach to humanitarian supply chain management to allow understanding from a variety of disciplines and professional backgrounds. We illustrate a humanitarian supply chain is more than just logistics, and that it includes people and technology. In addition, we present a comprehensive guide to planning for and responding to a humanitarian crisis through the utilization of best practices in supply chain management and makes the case for the involvement of for-profit business as collaborative partners in humanitarian supply chains.
