Enhancing Project Effectiveness with Teams

ABSTRACT
Group projects that are intended to facilitate collaborative learning are ingrained in the pedagogy of Philadelphia University. While much has been written about the ability of collaborative learning to enhance student learning through deeper engagement with the material and interaction with the peers, student experiences have not always been complementary. Indeed, anecdotal evidence reveals that students often find group projects to be a frustrating experience and the final deliverables to be less than optimal as they have not been well trained in collaboration. We are inclined to believe that students face similar experiences in other institutions. This presentation is based upon our grant proposal titled, "How to Enhance Project Effectiveness with Teams" and is funded by the Center for Teaching Innovation and Nexus Learning at Philadelphia University.
