Defending the Value of Calculus in the Bachelor of Science Business Curriculum

ABSTRACT
In a quest to streamline the curriculum, to improve completion rates, and be both timely and cost effective; calculus that has historically been required in many business programs is now being questioned as a necessity. Successful completion of traditional calculus or an application based calculus class offered in business programs combined with accounting and economics have been essential courses required to advance in a business degree program. While accounting and economics are not being questioned, calculus as a requirement is. This presentation will examine the current question being raised by business school programs at many 4 year institutions today. .
