ABSTRACT
The use of social media networks in the workplace has been the buzz ever since instant messaging became a more-used medium for collaboration. This paper proposes to assess to what degree the impact of different social media network software on the latest modes of shared communications has influenced productivity in Information Technology project development, testing, and implementation. The trend toward `bring your own device' to the workplace may also determine which of these tools are preferred by project team members and stakeholders in ensuring a greater user involvement, senior management commitment, and user/system requirements, significant determinants of successful projects. This paper proposes a study that addresses how social media networks can be beneficial in improving the project team's dynamics which are important to successfully managing scope verification, budget adherence, and schedule compliance.
